Research Opportunities

Here are some opportunities available for you as a member to pursue research in order to expand your expertise!

​

 Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program (PURS)

UH juniors and seniors are eligible to conduct a one semester-long research project along with a UH faculty mentor. Recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

 

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)

UH sophomores, juniors, and seniors can participate in a 10-week research project during the summer with UH faculty.

 

Research with UH Faculty

Summer Research Programs

 

 

Research Recruitment

Research Recruitment is where you sign up to get tested on! It often comes with paid incentives, opportunities to ask questions/make connections, and the perspective of research for the participants. 

​

UCLA The BRAVE Study

BPSOS is partnering up with UCLA to conduct a research study that will help improve the health of Asian women and the community. They are looking for participants, and If eligible, you can take a 30-minute survey and receive a $40 Amazon or Target gift card.

 

How to Participate:

1. Take a short eligibility screener using link. You can change the language in the top right corner (available in English, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and Vietnamese).

 

2. Select “I used the QR code or link on a flyer from the research team” for the first question. Enter our unique venue code (found on the flyer).

 

3. If eligible, you’ll receive a survey link. You can complete it online, by phone, or in person (Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, or NYC).

​

4. After completing the survey, you’ll receive your $40 gift card within 5 business days.

 

5. You can refer up to 3 peers—if they complete the survey, you’ll earn $10 per referral (up to $30).

All responses are completely confidential—no names are collected. The survey covers topics like health, healthcare access, and immigration experiences.

NIH/NIMH-Funded Brain Imaging Studies

The research team at UTHealth Houston are currently recruiting participants for two NIH/NIMH-funded brain imaging studies. Details on eligibility, time commitment, and compensation:

  • TMS Study: 8 hours total across 4 visits | Compensation: $330

  • Avoidance Study: 6 hours total across 3 visits | Compensation: $230
