University of Houston Resource
HPAC: Health Professions Advisory Committee
The Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) is here to support aspiring health professionals like you in achieving your goals. Their role is to review and guide students through the application process, ensuring that when application day arrives, everything is ready and all you need to do is hit “submit.”

The committee is made up of 14 University of Houston faculty and staff members from across nearly every school on campus. They evaluate students based on academic and personal records—including GPA, transcript, letters of recommendation, résumé, and personal statement. If available, MCAT scores may also be considered.

Students receive a ranking from 1 to 5 (with 5 being the highest), which is then shared with the student. You may choose to include this recommendation in your application or opt out, in which case only your personal recommendation letters will be submitted.
